This year, we mark Sidney Myer Fund's 90th anniversary and The Myer Foundation's 65th.

That 155 years of combined philanthropic history, governance and benefit to the community has been honoured by the Trustees of Sidney Myer Fund, who invited each of the 14 living second and third generation descendants of Sidney and Merlyn Myer to choose a not-for-profit organisation that would be awarded $155,000. The grants recognise and reflect the foundational, intergenerational role that family members have had in stewarding Sidney Myer’s philanthropic legacy.

In total, $2.17 million has been directed to a broad array of organisations, honouring the diversity of interests and passions across the family:

The Deakin Centre for Refugee Employment, Advocacy, Training and Education is supporting refugees to rebuild their careers after leaving their home country.

Supporting independent documentary filmmakers and organisations on the front-lines of social change.

Lort Smith Animal Hospital

Providing veterinary services, shelter and adoption services to companion animals of people of limited means.
