West Australian Capacity Building Arts Funding

September 4th, 2017

Sidney Myer Fund, Minderoo Foundation and Spinifex Trust Collaborate to Support West Australia’s Independent Artists

On Monday 4 September 2017, the Sidney Myer Fund, Minderoo Foundation and Spinifex Trust announced that their co-funded Capacity Building Program for West Australian artists and small to medium arts organisations was open for application.

The program will provide grants of up to $50,000 split into two equal payments over two years for independent West Australian companies and collectives.

This is the first collaborative funding project between the Sidney Myer Fund, Minderoo Foundation and Spinifex Trust. Recognising the scale of the unmet need in the independent sector, the Fund, Foundation and Trust are pleased to announce that recipients will be notified in December 2017.

The program will distribute $200,000 in the coming grant round.

The Capacity Building Program will strengthen and grow the independent arts and cultural sector in Australia by granting money to ensembles, collectives and groups that are highly connected within their sector, and producing excellent work. Funds will be awarded untied – to be applied as the recipients see fit in the course of their everyday activities.

More information about the program can be found on the Sidney Myer Fund’s website. Applications to the program are now open and will close at midnight (AWST) on 1 October 2017.
