Capacity Building Stream
The Capacity Building Stream will make grants directly to schools to enhance their capacity to implement peer observation and mentoring programs for teachers.
Through its Capacity Building Stream the Education Program seeks to build the capacity of schools to improve the quality of their teaching and the effectiveness of their teachers.
Grants have been awarded to the following schools through the Capacity Building Stream premier-pharmacy.com for 2015-2016:
Djidi Djidi Aboriginal School – WA
Woodville High School – SA
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College – SA
Mount Barker High School – SA
Wirreanda Secondary School – SA
Expressions of Interest for the Capacity Building Stream premier-pharmacy.com for 2016-2017 are now closed and being assessed. Shortlisted applicants in Victoria and Tasmania will shortly be invited to submit a detailed application.
Grant Size and Duration
Grants of up to $60,000 are available, and may be expended over two years.
Eligibility
Capacity Building Stream grants are available for the introduction of peer observation and mentoring programs for in-service teachers.
In the 2016-17 round eligibility is limited to:
- State schools and low-fee independent schools in Tasmania and Victoria with an ICSEA of 1000 or below.
Schools that are in current funding with the Sidney Myer Fund or The Myer Foundation may apply. However this is not a requirement, nor does it exclude applicants from eligibility.
Recipients of grants from the Sidney Myer Fund or The Myer Foundation received prior to 1 July 2014 must have acquitted the grant to be eligible to apply.
Desirable Characteristics of Potential Applicants
- Demonstrated understanding by the school leadership of the benefit of peer observation and mentoring practices and a real commitment to implement these in their school
- Identification of external support required to implement such programs
- A clear plan for rollout of the program.
